Changing the layout....?

So for the past couple days I've been stumped on how to do this.
To make a rapid fire mod.  I know how to do it but wanted to try something new with it.  Normaly you connect the possitive feed wire from the 1st player LED and the other wire to the LT down triger spot.  This causes a pulsing feeed between the button.  Similer to when you push the trigger down non stop you get a pulsing fire.  (This doesn't work with all guns)
Now normaly when I soder off Player 1 LED thus causing the LED to get burned off, so then you can't see if the controller is on.  This is a problem, I think.  So I followed the point off the LED down the board and the wire inside the board is covered in a plastic type film.
I thought to myself, why not try to cut the board open to expose the wire... so I did!  I found a dremel bit that I never use and tried it and it cut up the 'plastic' board perfectly.  So now all the controllers will work with the 1st player LED on and intact!
Yea I'm happy about that now.
But the question still is, will this work with 2 rapid fire mods in it?  Well I'm going to try this out later today.  First time attempting this one, but yes I will be recording it for all to see.

New Controller Mod (Version 2)

Now this mod I took a different direction with.   I didn't do my Rapid Fire buttons on it.  But I kept with the bullet theme.
I painted it with at 'Blood' Red look to it.  Just the body casing.  The front and back parts only.  (not the battery case)

I think its a good look, but not sure if I will do this for my next one.  I wanna try to put Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green LEDs in the bullet casing.  That would look awesome!  But I have to find where to get the power from off the board inside the controller.  If you have any ideas let me know.

Back with updates!

Hi everyone!  Yes I'm back again.  Been busy the last few weeks with projects, projects, and projects!

My main project is getting the 'maids' room ready to be changed into the 'game' room.  I've been going through alot of old stuff and organizing it all for the move up to the attic on the 3rd floor.  I am supose to have help from Brad on this but thats not happening.
And to add to it the truck he drives is dead now!  Which sucks so I can't haul trash to the dump and recyling center.

But the room is near clean.  So this means I have to start getting ready to move stuff into it.  The main thing that has to be built is a gaming shelf.  A shelf that will hold ALL my games and DVD's.  I also have had to get a list ready to make sure everything is there.  Cuz trust me, there is alot.
I haven't started orgainizing what controllers/cables/add-ons I have for my xbox collection yet.  That will take even longer!

But the idea for my gaming area is simple.  The shelf of games, the old brown couch (best thing to sleep on for those late night sesions, and my tv.  The idea was tossed out to use Brad's tv but his is a projection screen.  And I HATE those type of tvs.   Plus its too bright and you can't make any sence of whats going on on the tv.
We have one in the living room and I hate watching it.  Mine is best for it because I've grown fond of the HDMI port and suround system I've modded up for it.  Yes I use the poor mans reciever for my sound system, hey a stereo is great for it!

In this room I also plan on having a small area set aside for my conroller modding and other little projects, similar to my dads office downstairs.  I know in time the room will be taken over by my rents but untill then I'll stick with it.  Hell I'm payin rent there and they said I can do what I want in it, so yeah!  Go me... I guess?

Well thats all for now in this update.  The next one will be of my COMPLEAT game list thus far for the spring of 2012.

Youtube video updates

So for the past week I've been working on these new videos for my youtube channel, sad thing is they aren't about me!

As you know my family owns a store in Red Wing which I work at and do alot of their social media managing.  Yet I don't really get paid for it, go figure.
Anyways, Since I run and manage my own youtube channel my mom finds it easier to have me shoot/edit/and produce video's for her facebook page for the store.  Well I've done a few by myself and now she has the itch to be in alot more of these videos.

I guess thats ok but now I'm spending more time on the store videos then filming my vlogs/modds/gaming!  so who's booking this stuff now?

nude photo leaks?

So I know I haven't watched G4tv in a LONG time.  But when I did I use to watch "Attack of the Show".  The show was hosted by Kevin Parara (sp) and Oliva Munn.

Now I can NOT stand these two people!

Don't get me wrong, they know what they are talking about but only for the fact that they have writers and people who do the research for them to put the information on the tv show.  Aside from being able to read a script they don't know much and really don't offer alot to the table of the 'tech' fan.

Sure they go to events like GDC and E3 to report, but really have you seen them actually sit down and play a game of Modern Warfare or Mario Golf on tv?  Because the times I've seen them play they do it for 3 seconds then segway into another topic.

Now apparently Olivia Munn's Cell phone was hacked a few days ago and some 'supposed' nude pictures were leaked onto the internet.
Hell I'm a guy so I looked them up.  Everyone acted like they were the end of the world for her and she denyed that they were of her.  Well I'm sorry to say they didn't thrill me.  Yea they are of her, hint for next time, Don't photograph yourself in the same spot clothed then nude.  Easy to tell if your faking it, much like your career.

Now normaly I should be agains this, but I'm not.  I hate that chick and all she stands for, might go back to the "Dj Chrisy chris" statement she did a few years ago.

The way I see it she got what she deserved.

Video Making Process? How its done

So alot of people have asked me, "how do you come up with the ideas for your videos?".

Well about 75% of the time I just turn the camera on and shoot it all in one take.  And 25% of the time I actually sit down and figure out how I want it to look.

Those times are the long ones.  Like the New Years Eve video and some of the outings at bars/events.  Those times I actually have people to film and interact with during the recording.  Those are the fun ones.

Some of my fellow Youtubers sit down and make up scripts and storys they want to do in their videos, sorry not that type of person.  I enjoy recording real life interactions.   Probably one of the reasons I go to bars with my cameras and get clips so often.

I do make up some story videos up.  I have about 40 of them I want to film but can't figure out how to make them.  I know I have PLENTY of people that would do them with me, just can't figure out direction and the camera work that I would have to do for them.

Who knows maybe one day I'll actually do one of these videos for you guys.  Untill then you get to see my pick ups and mini-vlogs I post every other week!

mods mods and more mods!

Remember a month or so ago I posted about my Rapid fire mod to my xbox 360 controller.  Well I found something that is going to make it work even better!

While packing up my stuff from my apartment for the move I found 2 of my old towers that were scrapped out.  Inside was about 5 ft of ribon cable not connected but just sitting there.  I looked at the cable and realized it would be way easier to use as a modding wire then the thicker wire I've been using.

Now why use thin wire?  well the thick wire I have been using don't make moving it around easy.  To make the power conection you have to soder it to the player 1 LED on the controler, now this is ok but if you try to move the wire and position it after its done, it snaps right off.
A thinner wire is easier because it can move around freely and not snap off the soder.

So I took the wire and stripped the 16 wires down to single strips.  I then took 2 and connected them to 1 wire thus making it easy to create a faster build.  With these pre-made strips I'll be able to produce even more of these mods.  Even make some double fire mods!

So yes, they will be the left and right side L2 and R2 triggers.  I'm going to be making these up tomorrow night and will shoot some video of them.
Just gotta buy a new soder rod and some other stuff first.  Yea you gotta spend money to make money.

Also as for the bullet mods, those will be available soon.  I just gotta shoot off some bullets first!

Bring back good TV!

So Normaly my soap box is broken from my standing on it from alot of issues.  Well here is another one!

I logged into my youtube (http://www.youtube.com/strangebrownie) account to check my messages and emails and noticed a constant add that kept popping up in the side bar.
It was an add for a NEW Tv show on Nickalodian (nick) about a young kid who is being funny in school and around his family.  Oh how cute, that hasn't been done before, oh wait.... is that...
ITS FRED!?!

So a kid who has been a youtube celebrity and got his start doing independant video's on a public video feed site that signed him on to make a revenue and living off these videos now works for a company thats MAIN owner is Viacom.

Why am I pissed about this, well Viacom is one of the main creators of the SOPA and PPIA bill that wasn't passed a few months ago,but still its trying to be turned over in courts.

Now the creator and star of Fred in my opinion is an idiot for agreeing to have a 'tv show' be made by Nick.  He is proof that he can be bought.
I for one would never agree to do something like this.  If they asked me to make a video game review show for "G4" and have all gaming channels blocked on youtube, I'd say hell no.  I would continue to support the organization that I got my start.

When MPW was under fire by other promoters I still stood by MPW till the day the door closed.
You don't turn coat on where you started Fred.

But hey good luck with your shity tv show baised on your shitty movies that were raped by a coperation thats trying to make a monopaly on entertainment.

The Darkness 2 Game Review

So I just picked up "The Darkness 2" for the Xbox 360.  The version I got was the "special Edition" which gave me 2 DLC things.
1) 2 volumes for my 'ipad' or 'tablet' to read the comics.  But I don't have either of these, so I'll be hooking my dad up with this since he's got a tablet.
and
2) a DLC that has the locations of all the "relics" in the game.  a little "t" shows up on the screan when your near one so its easier to find and get points to upgrade your 'darkness' powers.

So onto my review of this game.

NOTICE: I'm half way done with the game and about 4 hours into it on 'normal' mode.

The game starts off just like the demo.  You have the choice of watching a video that is a "previously on" type thing for those of you who haven't played the first game.  But then again, WHY HAVEN'T YOU!!!

The controlls are VERY nice this time.  you do have the option to have 2 guns at the same time, I don't suggest this.  shooting both has crappy aim.  Plus you get to have 1 power gun (shot gun, assault rifle, rifle).  The left bumper controls the left tenticle arm that grabs things, and the right bumper controls the right arm that slashes/whips things.  you use these to take out enemies and doorways.   Very nice.

The acting is similar to the first game.  I think the actor who plays Jacki is the same guy from the first game so thats a plus.

Like I said I'm half way with the game and up until this point its very entertaining.  I do suggest that you go out and pick this one up.  I know there are two versions of the game out the special and normal.  I just got the special because thats all they had at walmart, only difference is those DLC codes.
Either way its a great game, so go check it out.

I give it 4 Darklings outa 5!

Tim and Eric Movie review

So I was messing around on my Zune account on Xbox and noticed that they were having a pre-viewing for "Tim and Eric's Billion dollar Movie".  I think this ends in a week?

They have done these types of movies before where they show the before they hit theaters then have a limited release for the public till they decide they lost too much money and throw it on a DVD.  Hatchet was one of them. (sorry those of you who liked it)

So onto the movie review.
Now I did dish out the 800 Microsoft points (msp) for this crap fest.  Yea you already can tell I hated it.  Well I guess not really hated it more like disliked it alot.
The movie wasn't the same as the TV show, which you gotta be either drunk or high to get it.  I'm usually neither (I should start getting high I think?).  The movie does star Tim and Eric (who play themselves) as they make a billion dollar movie with a studios money.  The studio see's the film and sets out to kill them for their money.
Tim and Eric run off to manage and run a Rundown Mall. In the mall its owned by a character played by Will Feralle (sp).  Yea they got him in this movie!  And his nephew Played by John C. Riley!!!  Wow they actually have one of the guys from the show.

Needless to say for about 45 mins they have a somewhat storyline going.  The Hollywood crew finds out where they are and in  3 mins they end the movie with some chopped off heads and smiles.  Similar to the TV show, I guess?

So if they asked me to see this movie again would I?  Well, Maybe.  Its one of those movies you rent and not own.  But then again where do you rent movies now-a-days?
I did enjoy the john c. riley parts.  He is one of my favorite actors and I always enjoyed his "Dr. Steve Brulle" on the TV show and his spin off.  As for Tim and Eric, well maybe they should stick to the TV shows.

I give this 2 Tocitos outa 5.

guitar hero mod? well sort of.

Well people have asked what I've done to mod a guitar hero controller.  I didn't do much to it.

I did take it apart with a Phillips Head screw driver (amazingly it didn't use a T9 or T8 bit) and pull all the parts out.  I painted the body and neck of the guitar different collors.  The small part on the body just came off easy, it was held by 5 screws (still amazed).

I painted the neck a brown color that looked simmilar to one of my old guitars I owned as a young kid.  And the pegs at the head I used a silver paint pen to fill them in for a more realistic look.
The body was just a gloss black that I had laying around.  And the part on the body I used a dark blue (simmilar to the colors on my halo character).

The buttons got the same dark blue color also.  I do want to try to put little collored LED lights in the buttons that light up when you press them.  I think they'd look cool that way.  I'm a sucker for LED lights in controllers.
So as always here are some pictures.  I do own another guitar that I haven't modded yet, but might some day.

My Xbox 360 bullet mod!?!

Yea your right, I have too much time on my hands.  Well not really.  But with the free time I do have (aside from editing videos and planning my next project) I like to make little 'tweaks' and mods to things I have.  Such as the Halo AI chip I made and the Paint job on my guitar hero 2 guitar.

This one is different cuz I actually had to put even more work into planning it and doing it.

One of the bouncers here at the Border Lounge is a HUGE gun nut, and hooked me up with some silver 9MM shells and 20 gauge shot gun shells.

So first thing I did was take the Xbox controller apart and pull the X, Y, B, A buttons out and grinded them down the the white inner part.  Now what does the white part have to do with this mod?
Well the white plastic inside of the button actually presses down the rubber button that makes the connection when you press the button.  It equals the pressure to the switch and makes the controller know you are pushing the button.  Simmilar to a button on your tv remote.

Now I had to grind these down because the 9mm shell is the same dimention as the button and the button now will slide right into the shell.
I then trimmed off 1/4 inch of the shell off so it doesn't stick up too far.  Then put some JB weld in the shell and put it back in the conroller.  I had to put the button in first then the shell in over top because the ridge on the end of the shell wouldn't fit through the inside of the conroller,  its ok though looks even cooler!

After I made sure the buttons worked fine I tackled the thumb stick.  I trimmed off all but 1/2 inch of the 20 gauge shell.  I had to drill out the pin inside of it to release the plastic stopper in the shell.  That was the messiest part.  This did leave a hole in the end of the shell.
I pealled off the rubber thumb stick cover.  This was always easy on my PS2 conrollers, the xbox is kinda harder though.... yea..  After some cutting and ripping I got it off.  I took some JB weld and filled the thumbstick and set the shell on top.
Remember me saying there was a hole in the shell?  Well the JB Weld actually filled it up and made it look cooler!  Kinda a mistake that worked itself out.

So what does the final project look like?  Well here are a few pics.

Hope you all enjoyed.  I'll post more of my mods real soon

The Darkness 2 Demo Review

I know I haven't been on here for a while, busy with random things.  Such as my Youtube Channel (http://www.youtube.com/strangebrownie) but I'm back with a review.

I just downloaded and played the Demo for "The Darkness 2".  If you know anything about me you know I LOVED the first game.  So much that I've kept playing it for the past 4 Years since its release.

Now the controls are way different in this one.  You get to control both left and right guns, as well as left and right darkness arms!?!  Oh yea, even more goar and violence.  Just was I want in my video game.  The demo lasts about 30 mins if you rush through and take out all the enemies.  Kinda short but it gives you a great feeling for the upcoming game.

I for one will be there night of to pick this one up.  Been waiting far too long for it.  I give the demo a 4 outa 5 spawnlings!
